W. B. Gilmer Papers
The W. B. Gilmer Papers document the Defenders of State Sovereignty and Individual Liberties from 1954-1962. The organization was formed to prevent integration in Virginia's public schools. The collection includes broadsides, circulars, letters, certificate of incorporation, newsletters and memos, and newspaper clippings.

Gary Ann Giovanni Culinary Papers
This collection includes the papers of Gary Ann Giovanni, a chef, caterer, and cooking teacher active in Blacksburg, Virginia. The collection contains records, menus, and recipes from her catering jobs and from the cooking classes she taught for the local YMCA Open University. Materials also relate to the various community organizations for which Gary worked or volunteered, and some materials are associated with her sister, poet Nikki Giovanni.

Hidden History: The Black Experience in the Roanoke Valley Cassette Tapes and Transcripts
Oral history project designed to interview African-American residents of Roanoke, Virginia, on the cultural, social, and political history of blacks in the city. Collection consists of approximately fifty-five interviews. Transcripts are available for thirty-six of the interviews.
William R. Hite, Jr., Scrapbook
This collection contains the scrapbook of William R. "Billy" Hite, Jr., when he was a senior at Varina High School in Richmond, Virginia. Hite played football at Varina and Virginia Tech, from which he earned a bachelor's and PhD in education in 1985 and 1998, respectively. He later became a principal and superintedent throughout the Mid-Atlantic United States.
Thomas Henry Howard Manuscript Account Book
The Thomas Henry Howard Manuscript Account Book was written by Dr. Thomas Henry Howard, a doctor in Floyd, VA who served as a Confederate doctor. The book is filled with names of patients, the services performed, and the payment received for each entry before, during, and after the Civil War.
Independent Order of St. Luke Records
The bulk of the materials in the Independent Order of St. Luke Records, a social-welfare organization for African Americans, consist of handbooks, correspondence, receipts, programs, membership records, annual reports, and assessment reports of the Order, collected primarily from members in Blacksburg, Virginia. Also includes the minutes (1920-1938) of the Blacksburg chapters of the Busy Bee and Maggie L. Walker (Secretary of the Independent Order of St. Luke) Circles.
Knights of Pythias Badge

William "Billy" McDuffie Collection
This collection contains a Carte de Visite photograph of William "Billy" McDuffie, a letter from Arthur Elmore to his sister Grace Elmore, and the envelope that it was sent in. This collection also contains a transcript of the letter.
